This Month’s Featured Church Stained Glass Restoration Project

We’re excited to announce that we’ve recently completed our successful church stained glass restoration project for The Rising Church. This incredible church was built back in 1913 and is located in Arvada, CO. Known for its inspiring homeless outreach, The Rising Church recently experienced an unfortunate incident. One evening, someone walking by had thought they heard screaming from inside the church after it had closed. They ended up throwing stones through the stained glass windows to stop the commotion. Luckily, there was no one inside but most of the original windows were damaged all the same.

The Rising Church Stained Glass Restoration Project

With 90% of the windows damaged, we brought back these stained glass panels to our studio for a complete restoration. Our team soaked the windows in a proprietary solution in order to remove all the dirt and grime while making them easier to disassemble. We used glass from our inventory and had the rest custom manufactured in order to achieve a perfect color match to the original. For the hand-painted glass pieces, we utilized an invisible mending approach in order to keep these original pieces. We then removed and replaced all the lead while resizing the windows. They required resizing because many of them had their exterior framing removed in order to fit the church’s window frames. We also painted the exterior frame and added custom vented polycarbonate for a protective solution.
